One thing I miss about my youth are those small children kitchens. While I never had a kid’s stove where the food was cooked by a light bulb, but I did have a child-sized plastic kitchen fitted out with plastic fruits and meals and several fake kitchen gadgets like a stovetop and cabinets. I used to have such a laugh in my kids kitchen; in fact , just looking backwards on it makes me smile with entertainment. It makes me miserable that I can not have that much fun any more with such simple toys. Where has my imagination gone?
The majority of people say that they were most happy when they were children due to their care-free attitude, but I think youngsters are happy because they still understand how to make anything fun. When I was a kid, I could be doing totally anything and I could make it fun. When I was in my mini kitchen, I may become an extraordinary chef or a stay at home mum. When I was playing in the sandbox, I could create volcanoes or forts to defend against my malevolent sisters.
Every morning when I woke up, I was thrilled because I could go anywhere and do anything with my imagination. Now that I’m an adult (well, kind of), things are not incredibly simple. I continue to imagine, I continue to have a care-free attitude, but I haven’t got as much fun as I used to. All my adventures must be planned out and all of my excitement comes from somewhere outside of my mind.
Over the years of my life, I appear to have lost the glamour of imagining things. Children truly do have the good life; they can be anybody or anything without thinking about the effects. Their fun is more easy, but somehow more pure.
It is somehow through the course of human development that adults grow more tired with the game of pretend and instead use their dreams as goals rather than a playtime. We, as adults, might be more sad than the youngsters we once were, but at least we had that time of pureness and fun that we will look back on.
